Explore The Project

ArchiSpace aims to design and test prototypes of human infrastructure for sustainable lunar and Martian settlements, prioritizing astronaut safety and well-being in hostile extraterrestrial environments. By bridging geology/space sciences and architecture/space architecture, the project uses planetary analogues to define design constraints and develop low-impact, cost-effective solutions incorporating ISRU materials. Through international collaboration and field testing, ArchiSpace pioneers interdisciplinary research and innovation, setting standards for future space habitats while contributing to Europe’s scientific and economic growth.

🌟 How do you become an astronomer? That was the central question of an engaging outreach event held on 26 April 2025 at the Jókai Mór Community Centre in Budaörs (Hungary), as part of Astronomy Day.With an audience of around 50 people — families, children, and curious students, the talk explored what it means to pursue astronomy as a career, how curiosity drives scientific discovery, and how the next generation might contribute to exploring the Moon and Mars, making use of local resources and new technologies.Events like this help bring planetary science closer to society, inspiring young minds to imagine themselves as future explorers. 🚀✨Event info: Facebook & MCSE links above.#SpaceEducation #AstronomyDay #ArchiSpaceProject #HorizonEurope #STEMOutreach #MoonMars ... 🌍 How do humans adapt psychologically to life in extreme environments — from remote Earth locations to future habitats on the Moon and Mars? This question guided the work of five researchers from Universidade Portucalense UPT Department of Psychology, leading them to present their insights in a seminar held at IRSPS International Research School Planetary Sciences on 13 November 2025 titled:“The Human Factor: Developing Guidelines for Psychological Adaptation in Extreme Environments,” delivered by Alexandra Araújo, Sandra Fernandes, Pedro F. S. Rodrigues, Elsa Guedes Teixeira, Ana Bártolo.Their contribution sparked a rich discussion across psychology, architecture, geology, and planetary science — a perfect example of how ArchiSpace brings together diverse disciplines to shape the next generation of human-centred space habitats. 🚀#archispace #MSCA #spacepsychology #InterdisciplinaryResearch #humancentereddesign #HorizonEurope #ExtremeEnvironment ... 🌍 ArchiSpace at the Earth Science Festival in Budapest! Our Hungarian partner CSFK (RCAES) took part in the Földtudományos Forgatag – Earth Science Festival at the Hungarian Museum of Natural History on 8–9 November 2025.Over 60–80 visitors, mainly families and primary/secondary school students, explored our booth, engaged in hands-on discussions about planetary exploration, and learned about ISRU concepts and sustainable habitat design on the Moon and Mars.📸 Children inspecting planetary globes (left) and watching the slideshow on Lunar and Martian habitats (right).A wonderful outreach moment connecting the next generation with the science and engineering behind future space exploration! 🚀🌕🔴#archispace #HorizonEurope #MSCA #PlanetaryScience #spacearchitecture #isru #outreach ...
